Sustainability
Far from being a recent boarder on the sustainability bandwagon, SSA has been designing energy efficient buildings since 1994, our first being the Homeowners Friendly Society HQ building in Harrogate. Since then we have designed a wide range of buildings that incorporate ‘green’ technologies such as ground source heat pumps; wind turbines; photovoltaic panels; thermal mass; passive ventilation; rainwater harvesting, grey water recycling systems and energy efficient chilled beam systems.
In recent years our interest has expanded to take in the wider aspects of sustainability, we utilise a ‘lifetime’ approach when designing many of our projects, which can include: BREEAM; Code for Sustainable Homes and Lifetime Homes, assessments.
