The project provides 11 new dwellings of mixed tenure. The site layout was very linear exempting us from using any typical building layout. We designed layouts to be staggered to use spaces more effectively.
The area's original housing is predominantly 2-storey, however it also has 3-storey flats. By placing the 3-storey flat element centrally to the scheme it acts as a pivot from which the housing element steps off to each side.
With the ever changing climate the Government is trying to reduce carbon emissions in UK homes. To support this we designed the scheme to achieve ‘very good' on the Eco-Homes rating.
