Urban renaissance in Gateshead

This project, in association with Gateshead Council, involved the design of a new Tesco superstore, and Master Planning the surrounding environs in Gateshead to regenerate the urban centre. The concept was to create a new, pedestrian orientated shopping & leisure centre with upper storey residential in city centre. The new development represents an urban renaissance to an area long overlooked, including 142,000 sq ft of retail space, 8,500 sq ft office space and 200 residential units. All are centred around a large internal pedestrian courtyard that creates a sense of space within the site, adding a new beacon to the city centre.
