Proposed scheme for Tesco Stores, Tolworth

The proposal is for a large-scale, mixed-use scheme that would be built on the site of a former brewery in Greater London, for Tesco Stores Ltd. The development would include an 85,000 sq ft food store, 500 residential apartments and a 150 bed hotel. The scheme would create a new central ‘hub' in the town, linked to the existing centre by a specially constructed ‘green' pedestrian bridge over the A5. A key element of the development's contemporary design is the way that its squares and courtyards turn their backs on the nearby road to provide calm and pollution-free public and private spaces.
