Success - Major Regeneration Scheme
Smith Smalley Architects are delighted to announce that their client, the Compendium Group, has been awarded the East Thurnscoe Regeneration Scheme to build almost 900 dwellings. Smith Smalley was part of the consultancy team which prepared the winning bid; the highest scored bid ever achieved by our client.
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council shortlisted four developers and, following a vigorous 12 month selection process, made the final announcement in April.
Smith Smalley's contribution to the bid included the detailed design for site 1 (consisting of 180 homes), the development of all dwelling types, scheme design language, street scenes and computer generated images.
All dwellings have been designed to comply with the Code for Sustainable Homes, Lifetime Homes and Scheme Development Standards. The design team was also tasked with achieving a Silver Standard, in respect of 'Building for Life'.
The finished development will include extensive public open spaces, a new link between East and West Thurnscoe and incorporate a mixture of Affordable and Open Market dwellings, ranging from one bed flats to four bed detached houses.
