St Stephens - “Hull’s New High Street”
Completed last autumn, Tesco's largest new UK superstore of 2007 opened as part of the St. Stephens regeneration project, in Hull city centre.
As one of the key retail units within the £200m development, the Tesco extra 24 hour store offers an impressive range of services to shoppers, providing more than 100,000 sq.ft of sales area.
Several ‘trial' initiatives have been introduced as part of this project, including: updated staff facilities; a reorganised mezzanine sales floor area and new customer services.
Smith Smalley helped to ensure Tesco's requirements were integrated with the overall scheme. They also provided assistance to the centre's design team delivering the largest single retail unit, whilst leading the ‘fit-out' co-ordination for this landmark store.
Following on from the success of Hull St. Stephens, Smith Smalley are supporting Tesco Stores with five further complex schemes, where Tesco are a ‘cornerstone tenant' or primary end user, as part of large developer led ventures.
